The executive order comes just two days after Trump declared an emergency on the southern border. This has triggered a massive military deployment.
According to CNN, around 2,200 soldiers are already operating in the region as part of the Joint Task Force North.
Additionally, they will be reinforced with 1,500 additional troops in the coming days, according to El Financiero.
The border mission, led by the United States Northern Command, focuses on tasks such as data entry, detection, and monitoring.
Operation Lonestar, led by the Texas National Guard, is also underway.
Currently, this initiative involves approximately 4,500 personnel, who work in coordination to control the migratory flow at the border.
The debate over President Trump’s measures continues to generate divisions in public opinion.
While some see these actions as necessary to protect national security, others criticize them for violating the human rights of migrants.
